Baylor Scott & White Irving Foundation

Canine Companions for Independence at Baylor Scott & White Health - Kinkeade Campus

Canine Companions for Independence® at Baylor Scott & White Health-Kinkeade Campus in Irving trains four types of assistance animals. These are:

  • Service Dogs that assist adults with physical disabilities by performing daily tasks.
  • Skilled Companion Dogs that enhance independence for children and adults with physical, cognitive and developmental disabilities.
  • Facility Dogs that work with a professional in a visitation, educational, criminal justice or healthcare setting.
  • NEW: Service Dogs for Veterans with PTSD trained to create physical space in public for the handler, turn on lights, and interrupt flashbacks, anxiety episodes and nightmares, which helps to mitigate the veterans' Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms.

One of the best aspects of this program is that grateful recipients do not pay for their assistance animals. Donors make it possible for us to provide these life-changing animals completely FREE OF CHARGE to those who need them.

Please call Laura Manning at 972-579-4393 to learn how you can help support this amazing program.

"Our hospital covers our foundation's operating costs separately. Therefore, I am grateful to report that every penny that donors give goes to the specific purpose they select.

"And, unless a donor chooses otherwise, every dollar given here stays here to make the people of Irving, Coppell and Grand Prairie healthier."
JOHN DRAKE | FAHP, CFRE, President
